Master’s Program

If you’ve always wanted to learn to ski like a racer or learn how to run a race course safely while having fun, this program is for you!

The Master’s Program is a race training program for adults who would like to learn how to run gates. This series of coaching clinics is intended for adult skiers of intermediate ability who want to progress in their skiing and racing skills. The clinics are held Wednesday mornings, Thursday evenings, and Sunday afternoons. These clinics include:

  • an introduction to ski racing techniques in a progressive, laid back and non-intimidating way

  • exercises and specific drills to refine skills and build confidence

  • an introduction to running gates and race courses

  • a whole lot of fun!

Master's program participants are asked to support the racing community in Mt. Shasta by volunteering 2 days during the USSA Far West mid/J3 races (January 30-31) and/or the CNISSF Championships (March 8 -11). Both events will take place at the Mt Shasta Ski Park.

This year there are 7 races open to Masters Racers in Mt Shasta:
Coyote Classic: (3 races, Feb 26-28)
Paul Gianera Race (2 races, March 6-7)
Over the Hill Race (1 race for racers over 50 years of age, March 13)
Gene Landsman Super Slalom (1 race, March 14)

We ask for help from the Master's participants to promote, stage, and help manage these races.

Schedule for Master's Training:
Wednesdays 9am-noon
Thursdays 4pm - 8 pm
Sundays 1pm - 3pm

Fee is only $150 plus 2 volunteer days for the whole season!

The season runs from January 6-March 28
